Cinquenta e Sete

The plot of land at Vale de Milho was bought by Margot & Richard Faber in 1986. Cinquenta e Sete (Portuguese for 57!) was built by Jorge de Largos and completed in 1988. Over the years there have been renovations and improvements but it remains essentially the same 4-bedroom holiday villa. In 2008 Margot & Richard handed over the villa to their three children, Hamilton, Sarah & Louise. In 2015 Louise, living in Australia, sold her one third share to Hamilton & Sarah who remain the joint owners.

Cinquenta e Sete is a 4-bedroom family villa set in approximately 1000 square metres with surrounding gardens. Around the garden is a wall to the east and a chain link fence on the other boundaries, hidden in a hedge, which give privacy and security. There are electric controlled iron gates in the entrance to the drive (see pictures). The floor plan shows that it has two wings around a central living and dining area. It comfortably sleeps eight people in its four bedrooms and is therefore suitable, for example, for either a large family of up to eight, two families of four giving each a degree of privacy, or a party of golfers. It has a 9 x 4.5 metre heated outdoor pool. There are two outside dining areas with their own bar-b-ques, one by on the pool terrace and the other on the roof.

The villa is situated in a quiet road amongst other similar holiday properties. Vale de Milho, 60 km west of Faro Airport, is an Aldea (a hamlet is the nearest English translation) which is built around a 9-hole Par 3 Golf Course. It is kilometre from the beach at Vale de Centianes and about 2 km to the east of Carvoeiro.

Cinquenta e Sete has been managed since 1990 by TLC Properties, who employ the maid and pool boy and arrange all maintenance. TLC was founded and run by Janette Cook until 2017. The company was then bought by Kristina Chatburn who continues to manage the properties with the same team. A member of the team is available by phone 24 hours a day to deal with emergencies.

Between 1989 and 2014 the villa was let for holiday rentals when not occupied by family and friends. Lettings were then discontinued for 4 years when changes to the tax rules and the introduction of new regulations made it both too onerous and financially non-viable. The villa is now available to rent again following further changes to the rules and regulations. All lettings are arranged and booked through Michelle Edgley of TLC Properties:
